More or Less is a piece for beginner-intermediate steelband, inspired by the painting of the same name by Wassily Kandinsky. In Kandinsky’s work, bright shapes and colors float along a textured blue-black background, and I love the playfulness of the shapes and the humor in the title. More or Less (the steelband tune) imitates these shapes in ascending four-note cells in the high pans, and imitates the textured background via high-stacked chords in the low pans.
